He was formerly known by his real name Yuichi Abe (阿部 雄一, Abe Yūichi) until 2004, when he changed his writing to アベ ユーイチ. He is mainly a live action and anime director. Not to be confused with drama director of the same name Yûichi Abe (阿部 雄一)
